What do you think? …

We built Unlazy because we realized we were becoming overdependent on AI. We love the productivity boost it brings, but we don’t want to rely on it when we’re being creative, learning through the process of writing, or sharing our voice online. AI makes it easy to generate content, but along the way it’s also easy to lose originality, memory, and critical thinking, things we believe shouldn’t be traded for convenience.

Unlazy uses AI to supplement and enhance your writing, not replace it. What’s unique here is that we’re not just adding another AI tool, we’re starting a conversation about how to use AI without losing yourself in the process.

We’re excited to share this with the community and curious to hear how you’ve been experiencing AI in your own work and life.

I've always loved to write, ever since I was a kid.

Writing to me was so much more than putting pieces of words together, to me it was the highest form of self-expression, I loved to sit down, open up a text editor and write away, for hours sometimes. Fast forward to now, people barely write anything anymore and I couldn't believe that I wasn't as well. It was a shocking reminder to me that I was getting too dependent on these tools. I couldn't think anymore, and neither could I write.

We wanted to solve this.

UnlazyWriter stemmed from the idea that ultimately humans need to write again while being mindful that it wouldn't make sense if we took away AI given how much of a boon it's been to us. The key here was to strike a balance, use AI to assist and not to write, that way you do the thinking, your original words, you're in flow state and you get smarter without outsourcing your brain completely. Unlazy offers a minimalistic note-taking space with three powerful tools, KnowFlow for real-time research as you write, FactFlow for live fact-checks, and SpellFlow for clean writing that still sounds like you. We're proud of this and we want you to write more.

PS : This was written using UnlazyWriter.

Cheers! :)

Was it the main concept, not using the AI at all? It would be great to somehow highlight the main message / explanation on the landing page (to what extent AI is used).

@busmark_w_nika Great question Nika and you're absolutely right, the messaging could be better. The idea here is to use AI(our underlying systems use it to fact check, spell check, and research as you type), the only difference is that these tools were designed to enhance your writing experience, to keep you in flow relative to the current convention where people just copy paste. Hope that answered your question! :)

@chaosandcoffee This is a clearer explanation, because first I understood that AI is "forbidden" in order to make the text more authentic, but the idea was quite contradictory, as it promises "fact-check, research, fix" – and this part sounds more like AI-driven. It confused me a bit. 😅
