I guess it isn't a scam after all, as it finally arrived. It's a miracle – sort of...
Firstly, I ordered in January 2022, and it didn't arrive until the end of July – six months later.
During that time, I'd reached out to support a few times and had been assured it would arrive, and it didn't. I'd reach out again, and they'd reassure me it's coming, coupled with excuses after excuses – some you obviously can't argue with, but others should've been anticipated by Nuka...
After so much turmoil, including me asking for a refund, I was given a shipment date and told I'd receive a free gift. Well, it finally arrived, but where's the "free gift"? No such thing, liars, as given their reputation.
Now onto the actual product: The design is all there, it feels nice in your hand, the materials feel premium, the magnets work wonderfully and the Nuka pencil is beautiful – albeit nowhere near as good-looking as my desk pen, the Brass Pen by Grovemade. The paper feel is surprisingly familiar, given it feels like the same material as used on a British currency note, thin and plastic that's very hard to tear and resistant to water. Great, but if you appreciate high-quality matte paper, then this isn't for you. The book cover is silicone, which is alright. Inside the book, there are three styles: to-do lists, planner and dot-grid, which is very useful.
BUT... for me at least, the writing experience is crap. It doesn't give much feedback given there's no ink, and the Nuka pencil nib is too big, so personally I don't like the writing experience. The lines are also very faint, barely visible even compared to a traditional pencil. It's not at all dark lines like Nuka's promotional garbage.
Erasing feels like a step back, using a traditional pencil and rubber is less faff, and you get similar results. It barely gets rid of everything, the spray stinks and is a faff. I'd go as far to say that a rubber is actually better.
The app is okay, fairly intuitive and simple enough to pick up and use. It picks up the lines very well, considering they're barely visible. But if you have small hand-writing, it's hard to make out.
All-in-all, I think it's a waste of money, waste of materials, waste of time. I'm sure that somebody out there will love it, but as someone who's a tech-nerd who has an undying reservation for high-quality pen and paper, it's not for me.
