I'm a developer and a huge sports fan, and together with product designer @gokce_kurt , We've been working on a new web app called JustRef.app. It's an AI-powered referee designed to analyze controversial plays and provide a decision based on the official rulebook.
Right now, the AI is trained for Football/Soccer, and the system is live. My goal is to expand to other sports like 🏈 American Football, 🏀 Basketball, and 🏒 Hockey next.
I'm inviting everyone to try the football version and giving one free credit to every new user. Find a clip of a dive, a handball, or an offside call and see what the AI thinks.
@gokce_kurt@tolgacanunal looks like brilliant idea & product! Good luck in the journey. My one suggestion can be, focusing on “building the community for the product”. This will keep the JustRef alive in the long run.
For example, CR7 is great candidate. You may put some contoversial examples that JustRef would have decide it correct, like Serbia vs Portugal – March 27, 2021 (World Cup Qualifier) CR7 scored, it was a clear goal but not awarded because there was no VAR at that time. Game ended 2-2 but with this goal it could end 3-2.
Drop this kind of examples into CR7 Reddit pages, it may help building the community.
JustRef is a smart and helpful platform that uses AI to make referee decisions more consistent and fair. I really hope it can be used as an easy, automated way to support or even take on Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties in the future.
