We used the Elgato SDK to build the plugin. It's quite straight forward to use, easy to test, and well documented! There's also a very helpful Maker community on Discord if you get stuck.

I use Elgato Stream Deck for two different applications; Sibelius music notation, and Cakewalk by Bandlab DAW. I purchased off-the-shelf templates for both of these apps, and I easily edit them to fit my workflow. Highly recommended!
