Not a bad idea indeed. I like the approach of 'not wasting food', i think this is a powerful motivator for people. And your app really provinding the solution for that problem. Nice!
I see some great additions to this app. Things like how easy it is to get great nutritios (and tasty) meals with few ingredients. So it would educate people on how to eat better and be healthier.
You could go even further and say ... why not make some extra suggestions of what you can do with other things that people throw? For instance, banana peels. Which you can use for creating nutrient rich water for plants. Good for house plants, awesome for garden plants.
And many other ideas like these that focus on recycle waste.
Maybe a v2 in the future?
