@simoelalj @094459 Well, at that point it isn't much different as if they had downloaded a zip from wherever you host your stuff and uploaded it to GitHub right? They'll always be people who buy CDs then clone them at home, the only thing we can do about it is making it illegal to do so via a license, really.

@simoelalj @m1guelpf Yes, I think as long as you are aware of this that was the main reason for my comment. If you have an open source license, then someone can do this. If you do not have an open source license, you do not need this, because by forking/cloning you are breaking copyright (if your license says so). The moment you make this illegal via licenses, you dont need GitHub.

@simoelalj @m1guelpf @094459 Of course, you don't need GitHub, as people have been selling source code for decades now. But it looks quite convenient as you get easy updates, including granular changes, and a place for issues. I've been buying components with source code since they came in floppy disks, and I feel updates are much more likely when I get access to a source code repository. It is also easier to get them and to see what actually changed.
