How can you promote your Product Hunt launch offline?

This topic popped into my head because during holidays, vacations, and hot summer days, we’re all a little less online, and it shows in the drop in upvotes and reach.

But that also got me thinking: maybe this is the perfect time to talk about your PH launch offline.

Here are a few examples:

  • If you are going to a conference to pitch a product, mention your upcoming launch during your presentation.

  • If you have a booth at a festival, remind yourself.

  • I saw at a swimming pool the other day how they were giving out some merch with a party invitation pinned on it – what if it was an invitation with a QR code to support the launch?

What other clever offline launch ideas come to mind?

You have one week until your launch.

You go to every possible co-working space in the city and meet as many people as you can. If you visit two co-working spaces per day, that’s 14 co-working spaces. And if you meet about 20 people in each one, that’s 280 people who could support you.

*We’re talking about relatively large cities.

@byalexaiAnoter one good point! Honestly, this didn't come to my mind! :D

@busmark_w_nika yep. Super easy.

I know you’re asking about Product Hunt launches, but here’s something we did for our newsletter that worked really well.

We printed a ton of these fun, quirky cards. If I’m working at a cafe or coworking space, I just scatter a few on my desk, people walk up and ask about them.

At conferences or startup events, I hand them out to builders I meet. Conversions have been surprisingly good for something so simple.

Nika

@theideator I am still amazed that posters still work. But happy to hear that people pay attention to external media :D

Ayush

@busmark_w_nika They’re tiny and fit right in your wallet, maybe that’s part of why they worked so well. Honestly, it was just an experiment, and we were surprised by the results. We’d previously tried walking up to people and talking about what we do, but that rarely converted. This worked much better though of course, conversions still depend on whether there’s truly a fit based on the conversation.

@ideatbd so nice, love this vibe

Ayush

@nastassia_k Thank you :')

Thanks for this idea, I think that mentioning your upcoming launch on conferences and other business events is quite ok and it's kinda a great example of build-in-public strategy.

Nika

@nastassia_k It can be applied to meetups as well :D

Conferences and any other kind of talks. QR should be showed on the screen :)
Nika

@je_suis_yaroslav but I wouldn't certainly leave only QR code (it is not completely safe) :D

Setting up in a park with a booth and a sign. Talk to people as the pass by and give away merch or stickers.

Nika

@katrinarodriguez That reminds me of this meme :D

Product Hunt is impossible to win without preparation. Change my mind :D

Katrina Rodriguez

@busmark_w_nika haha yes, that meme captures it well!

I am glad you mentioned the offline world :)

The best way to share things offline is via QR codes.
(That's why ReadyTools has a QR code generator with tracking for free :) )

Nika

@laszlo_rt I once read in one newsletter that there was one activity with QR Hunt – that would be great concept for your solution: reach out to conferences :)

Launching soon!

I told my family back home about our YC launch and woke up with 3x the support from their friends!

Nika

@punn_kam The conclusion: Yap as much as possible.

The best way to boost offline visibility + exposure is to take the eyeballs of the 📱 to your messages with a call to action back to the 📱 but into your funnel, what makes it an Phygital funnel.

We use our mobile Full-HD AdWalk displays with human interaction, AI and a keen strategy.

to grab attention in the real world, we create a phygital approach/funnel by pulling people straight into your clients funnel, and track the result, feedback and valuable data.

It’s instant awareness + measurable results, feedback and data.

Perfect for keeping your launch, information or promotion top-of-mind even when the eyeballs are “offline.”

Looking forward to your thoughts @busmark_w_nika and community!

Nika

@julian_grell Okay, this is so creative. And attention-grabbing. Where were these photos taken? (I mean conference/event)?

@busmark_w_nika To follow up with my co founders comment on this same thread, this was taken in Manhattan, the gentleman in this photo is part of a group of chirpy people can be seen around midtown and they're usually outdoors doing their own promotion. I walked up to one of them and asked them if I could take a photo of them with our card. They said, I'd need $20, I said sure, you definitely are giving celebrity energy, I did have to empty my pocket but we shared a fantastic conversation and some great laughs! I got to talk about Ideatbd and even though they fully didn't understand, they took a couple of cards!
