What do you do for your business and brand to make your communication sound more human?

Yesterday, I read that in addition to Klarna, the CEO of Zoom is already using his AI avatar on quarterly calls.

Understandably, these AI gadgets are quite trendy (and make life easier, save time and money)...

It's definitely worth being present in reality without filters, AI effects, etc.

How does your company, brand or product maintain a human touch after all AI overload?

(Or how do you balance it?)

Call me a boomer, but I would maintain it this way:

  • genuine reach outs in DMs (deep convos)

  • private group channels in Slack / Discord with human-oriented approach

  • IRL sessions – events, conferences, open days

Anything else? 👀🙂

i deliberately go out of my way to not use corporate or salesy language. I honestly lean more towards "texting-my-friends" language (within reason). I've found that stands out on social media a bit

@busmark_w_nika I respectfully disagree! I see more conversational tones outperforming more and more! (Myself and others included). I think people just want to hear from real people

I'll try to maintain a human touch by asking real humans to answer other real humans. :D

@laura_cornely I've seen several posts recently where almost everyone is saying the same thing...hard to know if its real or not. I would rather post and respond less, but it's real and personal.

Honestly, I think in the age of everyone optimizing everything with AI, imperfection may become a competitive advantage instead. Like spelling or grammar mistakes ...... (Well, I'm usually just too lazy to edit 😂).

Nice question, Nika! I totally agree with all the points you've shared, that is to pay more attention on growing your audience into a real community.

In our company, we have a whole community forum to make our customers (and customers to be!) feel at home. This “many-to-many” approach really helps build stronger relationships. Our clients appreciate having a space where they can speak up and connect with others. Plus, the tone on forums is naturally more relaxed, which lets us engage in a more human and approachable way :)

I'd probably add newsletters here, but only helpful ones. For instance, we send out monthly digests to keep our customers updated and always include links back to the community forum as a friendly reminder that it’s there.

I'm considering an online call as well, but not sure how to arrange it at the moment 😅 On one hand, it could be a nice opportunity to get together and do something like an AMA session. But I guess you need to know your audience to say whether they need such events in the first place.

@busmark_w_nika I run a newsletter for product enthusiasts, so staying authentic is essential. The crowd is sophisticated and can spot AI-generated content from a mile away. We’re not afraid to pour in personality either, especially since we build in public.

With how cold and automated AI can feel, I really believe there’s a growing niche for entrepreneurs who lean into community, honesty, and human connection

But for informational text on a website, I think it’s less of a concern—as long as the messaging is clear and the product is well explained, most users won’t mind.

When I went to the Buildspace S5 event in SF last August Farza from Founders inc. mentioned purposely writing newsletters / emails in all lower caps just to add that sense of authenticity. I guess it really just boils down to the delivery.

One thing that’s worked well for me is focusing on tools that actually start real conversations instead of just automating everything. I’m involved with Moon Phase Soulmates, which is a project that helps people explore emotional alignment based on their moon phase. It’s not just a calculator—it gets people thinking about their relationships and sharing personal stories. When tech invites more human connection instead of replacing it, it naturally feels more personal and genuine.

I do something called the "bar test".

Whenever I write content for absolutely ANYTHING, I ask one question.

"Would I say the same thing to someone sitting at a bar whilst having a drink?"
