Is adding a paywall during BETA a mistake?

We’re in early beta and debating whether keeping it 100% free is helping us learn… or slowing us down. Would love to hear how others handled this: Did you charge early users? Offer lifetime deals? Or stay free until you nailed the product? Curious what worked (or backfired) for you.

If you’re really, really early, don’t charge, the feedback is worth more. If you’ve already validated and found a fit, you can charge, but take a look at the industry there’s lots of different ways to approach it - free trial that converts to paid with credit card input in flow, free trial that converts to paid without credit card input in the flow, founding user or early bird pricing so users understand it will change or why they pay more than original users. Good luck!
