About

Hi, I'm Max - an entrepreneur and engineer with more than a decade of professional experience in the 3D graphics industry, with a passion for efficient 3D workflows and open standards! Before co-founding my own company, I did applied research on 3D workflows at Fraunhofer - the organization that invented MP3. I received my PhD on automated 3D model processing, with honors, from TU Darmstadt (Germany). I also spent a year at amazing research labs, including the Digital Geometry Processing group at UBC (Vancouver, BC, Canada), and Siemens Research (Princeton, NY, USA). I also helped co-create the popular 3D format glTF (the "JPEG for 3D"). My main interest working in 3D graphics is always to help to advance the state of the art in the entire field, wherever I can.

Working with CAD data in Blender to create CGI & XR content?

For everyone working with 3D models, Blender is becoming more and more popular... but where do people get their initial 3D models from?

During conversations with industry leaders in product visualization, over the course of the past couple of years, we figured out that CAD is an extremely powerful and popular 3D data source - but then it's still quite hard to get a good-looking and lightweight 3D model for CGI rendering + XR out of that!
So we laser-focused on making that part as easy as possible ... with the result that we can load more than 20 CAD formats into Blender now, clean them up, create UVs, etc., and allow people to just work with them easily for their CGI and real-time projects.

The result? RapidPipeline 4 Blender, our add-on that lets you efficiently load, tessellate, clean up, UV-unwrap and optimize CAD models, right inside Blender : )
Check out our launch here, would love to get your support and feedback!

Why is making something in 3D still so hard?

We built RADiCAL because we hit the same wall so many people do: You open a 3D tool, ready to try something cool and suddenly you're drowning in panels, shortcuts, and tutorials just to move a shape.

It shouldn t take a whole course to make a rough idea come to life.

We re curious:

What was the first 3D tool you tried?
