Slack or Email
I feel like there's backlash (a slacklash??) in our midst. I go back and forth. I love Slack, the informality, the ease, the ability to jump through conversations and channels; but at the same time, things do have the ability to get buried or lost. Also I am drowning in notifications. Do I miss email? Or do I just miss being less busy? What's your take?
Am I the only one who doesn't (know how to) use social media?
I just can't bring myself to invest the time in it. More than that, I'm confounded as to how so many people have the time to follow, update, share, post - all that stuff. When do they work? Am I doing something wrong? Can you convince me to invest more time here? Do you use social media (for your startup)? How? What is the most efficient platform/method? Where are you seeing the biggest benefit? Is there a resource that you could point me to that might convince me to change my mind on social media?
I'm tired of being "happy to" ...
"Happy to" is getting a bit over saturated in the customer facing world and I sometimes am not actually "happy" to do anything. I'd much rather come across as genuinely interested in maintaining and building upon relationships instead of someone thinking I'm fake or using a script. What's some other creative phrasing for informing colleagues and clients that you will be ready, willing and able to participate in the completion of any needed next steps for whatever it is you do for/with them? Share your ideas and let me steal them.
