About
I run sales, marketing, and business development for a UK-based global private equity firm called XLIO Ventures. Every day, I speak with F500 companies about their needs with a goal to help them purchase "made-to-order" startups. A made to order startup is a startup that was designed to meet the exact tech, team, and timeline requirements of the buyer and only the buyer. The startups are purpose-built for acquisition. Want to scale up some small tech so that it fits well within a F500 mega-corp? That's us. Want to get some "tuck-in" technology or add something just a bit adjacent to your existing tech? That's us. Want to get an amazing team of entrepreneurs to come in and up-skill your existing team? Yeah. That's us.

I saw a tweet and it made me question how I use my time 👇🏻
"I spent ~10 days over 3 months trying to code this basic AJAX datatable function. I finally gave up and hired someone on Fiverr to do it. It took him a day and cost me $150. I have to constantly remind myself about the value of my time." https://twitter.com/travismakes/... What is your take?
I would like for ChatGPT to teach me a foreign language.
In order for me to really learn a foreign language, ChatGPT would need to message me (email, app, or WhatsApp) once or twice daily with questions that are appropriate for my language skill level. I could answer a question and then choose to engage in a further conversation - but always with the ability to ask what a particular word or phrase means in my native language. Over time, I would become better able to understand a wider range of vocabulary and tenses, etc. Has anyone ever seen such a solution or heard of anyone building such an app?
It's month 2 of 2023. Can we kill off "Super Excited" now?
I used to work on the west coast and we had our quarterly meetings where the product managers would come out and breathlessly explain why they were "super excited" about some new feature or dead bug. After a few quarters, it turned into a game where we could play "Super Excited" bingo. Eventually, we began to lose the joy of the game and hearing the words "super excited" began to make us feel as if a bit of our soul was being sucked away.
