What was your greatest insight about teamwork when you started your startup?
I'll go first. Previously I worked as the Director of the department within a corporation. I used to deal with a highly specialized team of experts. I considered myself as a good professional if I provided them the space and time to do their job. In my startup, I work in close connection with my co-founder and team. At the beginning, I felt uncomfortable working in such close connection. It felt like I was interfering with their business and controlling the process too tightly. Over time, I realized that there are different dynamics in personal relationships here. We need to be close to each other to confront challenges, be agile, and respond to the ever-changing context in the right way. What was your insights about team work in startup?
Books for founders
What are some books you suggest every founder should read? For me it's: 1) Meditations - Marcus Aurelios. More of a personal favorite then a recognized startup book for sure. But building a stoic mindset is exactly what you need to drive your startup. 2) Getting Things Done - Organizing your work when you need to wear 10 hats each day. A must. - Along the lines of Getting Things Done another good one is Deep Work. Really should be read together for the maximum effect. 3) The Mom Test - to be honest I think it's a bit overhyped. But it does give a good step by step guide on how to start interviewing people and get feedback before you spend too much time on your idea. Not that helpful once you're deep in the woods. What else? :)
