👋 Hey ProductHunt (and @__tosh, thanks for hunting me)! For some time, I was struggling to find a nice tool to help me organize things I find around the web. I wanted something simple and easy to use, not some outdated or bloated piece of software. After failing to find a fit, I decided to just build my own bookmarking tool called WebCrate. After working on it for the last 2 months it became a bit more than just another bookmarking tool and I'm happy to finally share it with the world! Here are some of the key parts of WebCrate: ⚡ Fast, minimal, and intuitive interface. I wanted something simple to use which helps me to never lose a link again thanks to a powerful quick search. 📂 Organize your links with crates. A crate can be thought of a collection of links which relate to the same topic. Use a crate for a particular project you are working on, a list of useful resources or organize anything else you like! 🔮 Make your crate public and share it with the entire world! See this crate as an example. You can also subscribe to any public crate and access its links directly through your own dashboard. 🔐 Everything runs in its own sandboxed environment for each user thanks to Deta Space. You get your own instance of WebCrate on the internet for you to access from all your devices! @__tosh @betahuhn I have had this same problem, from evernote to bookmark tools, notes, textedit, then to Notion. I have never found the perfect tool - keen to try this one out!

Looks cool. That sharing feature got me interested. Here is how I currently store links more general links - Chrome's bookmark tool (it does what i need) Recipes - Pinterest - I really don't like it, it's slow and sharing is difficult to non-pinterest users So I think I found my first use case, my recipe collection, viewable to everyone. But what do you think are the features that set WebCrate apart from the rest?

Hit me up when you make the crate public, always looking for delicious recipes 😋 Regarding WebCrate itself, one big reason I decided to build it was that I didn't like the interface of other bookmarking tools. WebCrate's is simple and tries to get out of your way. It lets you focus on the links itself while still giving you the functionality you need. WebCrate also runs on Deta Space which means that you get your own sand-boxed instance of it. There is no way for me to access it and it keeps running even if I disappear. Another thing that sets it apart is that you can add your own context to each link. Change its title, add a custom description -- It can adapt to your needs.
