Hey! uiGIFs is a site I quickly put together to document & share some of the fun and unique interactions I find in apps.
If you have any ideas about how I could improve the site, I'd love to hear them!
@ramykhuffash This is great! I would love to see some sort of auto-play implemented. Obviously having them all playing at once is insane, but I think playing them one at a time or on hover would allow for more of a browsing mentality. Having to click on each one to play & pause creates a lot of friction for me personally.
@gianorama yeah a few people are making that suggestion now, so I'll experiment with it and see how it feels. I'm not sure how well the grid will work with auto-play, but hover to play could be good.
Hi Ramy, very cool idea. Not sure what tools you might be using to generate the GIFs but wanted to give you a head's up that the new Camtasia for Mac 2.9 release today adds iOS device capture and GIF output. Just in case that's useful. :)
@fosteronomo thanks! The tools I use are actually fairly basic. I usually record a video of the iPhone screen with Quicktime (possible since iOS8), then use Licecap (http://www.producthunt.com/posts...) to record the GIF of the video.
I also use AppShow (http://www.producthunt.com/posts...) instead of Quicktime sometimes.
I'm sure it could be much simpler, so I'll check Camtasia out.
@ramykhuffash Awesome to hear you use AppShow...I'm on the team that's building it! :D We've talked about adding animated GIF output to AppShow but it hasn't made it to the top of the list yet.
@fosteronomo Awesome! I haven't had a chance to use it to create an actual App Store preview video, but I think there's certainly room for products that make creating assets for the App Store faster/easier, especially now that there are so many device sizes :-)
