Hey makers 👋 I always found it annoying that some long YouTube videos didn't have chapters. So I created TimeSkip, the first to generate chapters directly in your player! Built for YouTube creators: - Boost your video's SEO with chapters - Save hours with just one click - Affiliate program (50%) Works well for: - Podcasts - Webinars - Educational Content I invite you to try it out and look forward to your feedback! PS: I am an indie hacker building aside from my 9-5. I build in public here. — Nigel

@niyong TimeSkip is a fantastic Chrome extension that streamlines the process of generating timestamps for YouTube videos! I'm curious if future updates might include a feature that allows users to customize chapter titles for better clarity and engagement with their audience.

@annaho2000 Hey Anna, TimeSkip is still in MVP state. I hope to let users shape the product by requesting features. That's a great idea! Definitely possible in future versions to edit the chapters.

Very well done, Nigel! I'm really impressed by this cool idea. Would you please talk more about the technologies you used for creating TimeSkip, such as the frameworks and tools? :)
Nigel Yong
@lnxpy Hey Sandra, absolutely! I've used Plasmo + NextJS + Supabase + OpenAI.

@niyong That's nice! Did you use tailwind for the frontend?! It looks pretty neat.
Nigel Yong
@lnxpy Yes, I'm never going back to vanilla css haha. Thanks you!
Sadra Yahyapour
@niyong xD. That's great.
Nigel Yong
@lnxpy I added you on X. Cheers Sadra, we keep in touch!

hey congrats on the launch 🚀 Super useful product. However to be honest it seems quite an expensive rate per video at ~$0.90 a go? The cost of a youtube transcription is ~100x less, and then that can be converted into timestamps with one LLM request. Though I appreciate the ease-of-use here is valuable. Good luck with it anyway!

@jonnymiles Hey Jonny! The price of a product is determined my the value it brings, not it's cost. Else, all wrappers would cost peanuts. We also use the best AI models and long videos transcript (3-4h) can be quite expensive. A quick search on competitors will also show you that we have one of the best fair pricings. Thank you for your comment.

@niyong fair enough! Its definitely a useful tool 🙏

@jonnymiles thank you Jonny!!
