Hi, I'm Robert, and my full-time job is as a software engineer at Amazon. Over the years, I've worked on various side projects like selling Snapchat code stickers, creating AirPod straps when they first came out (not the best idea in hindsight, but it did get some cool tech blog features haha), and developing MineStats; a Minecraft server plugin, along with some other fun projects.
Today, I'm excited to launch Supportbot Pro! A website chatbot that can be trained on data sources of your choice, currently supporting PDFs and your website's content, with more options coming soon (happy to take requests). You can embed the chatbot on your website to provide customers with information about your product/service, getting customers responses faster while reducing the need for customer support. If the chatbot cannot handle the request, you will notified. In the future, the platform will also suggest improvements to your knowledge base when it encounters questions it can't answer.
I believe that to trust the product, you have to trust my vision for the future of customer support and, more specifically, the future of support agents. I have a full post about this which I will be releasing, but the gist of it is: website chatbots are generally bad, and a customer's first thought is often "just give me a human to talk to" or "they're never going to get back to me". With Supportbot, I want to change this mindset by creating a support agent that makes people think "I hope this is a bot" and "I will get the help I need right away". This can be done by (1) giving the agent the right information and (2) allowing the bot to complete functions in the application for the user.
Technically, this will be done using the following approach:
1. Bots should be able to connect to any data source they might need.
2. Bots should be able to interact with the application on the user's behalf.
3. Humans should be notified when a bot doesn't know the answer to a specific question so the knowledge base can be improved.
This is my high-level goal for Supportbot, we have a way to go but it is what we are working towards. It would be great to have you along for the ride.
