What do you think? …

PopStory!! has been developed as a family project by an out-of-work dad and his two daughters who wanted to hear stories from a computer. It's meant to be a fun way for children to create stories, explore combinations, be inspired, and share what they learn. Let your child create a story, listen with them, and ask what they think; always interesting to hear the takeaways! We added a multilingual feature so (hopefully) you can create stories in your native language or maybe your parents language, a language you learned as a child and want to revisit, etc. Our family is from a minority-language background and it is very difficult to find childrens audiobooks, so this has been a wonderful feature for us. We currently use OpenAI API to drive story creation. The safety of these "public systems" is of huge benefit for this use-case, and we describe it a feature in discussions. Some things I've noticed: + Young children love the teddies, unicorns, etc in typical environments. + Older children have a little bit of mischief and put whales in a meadow, or dogs underwater, just to see what happens... + Adults are also allowed to create stories and usually start exploring the language options. I've really enjoyed making this product with my children, I hope other families enjoy it. At the moment, it is very basic, but we love it all the same. Hopefully, I will add more features in the future, but I am keen to get feedback on the commercial side. Two major features we have partially implemented: + playlists. + video creation. + animated stories with subtitles to help children learn to read. There is a lot of interest in it from adults as a way to learn second languages (try Italian, Spanish, French, German, and others), to support that product aspect we plan for: + bilingual story + multi-script story (english/chinese, korean/finish, etc). We also have an API which can serve the story content, assets, etc. and create new stories. Let me know if you would be interested in using this API. It doesn't have any documentation yet, but if there is demand...

@alex_epsi that's great, thank you! Keep in touch and I can drop you some story credits in exchange for feedback :D
What a wonderful concept! Encouraging pre-reading children to engage with storytelling in a fun and interactive way is a fantastic idea. How do you ensure that the generated stories are appropriate for different age groups, and can parents customize the content to align with their preferences?
Edward Grundy
@ricardo_luz hey, that's a great question! We currently design stories specifically for the 3-7 age group; stories are also tuned to language choice (character names, locations, etc will match language locale). We have a prototype for older children, with longer narrative structures, character arcs, etc. At that point, choice around narrative will become more important, but will require a different UI, choices around parental control etc.
