Launching today
Turn today's news into today's clues
Particle now has a daily mini crossword, based on recent news. Earn personalized emoji awards for each game! Feeling stuck? Take extra hints if you need to! Compete against humans and bots on the leaderboard. Puzzles are AI-generated and human-perfected.
Hi everyone! We're really excited to launch the Particle Daily Crossword, a mini crossword game based on recent news. You can play a fun game while testing your knowledge, *and* maybe learn something new about today's stories!
Why did we build this? The Particle Daily Crossword is a quick way to stay connected to current events while playing a fun game. We know that crosswords are a popular and meaningful part of how many people connect with their news experience, and we're building on that tradition, just like how Particle has already reimagined your daily news intake.
Here's how it works: - The daily game is accessible in a new Puzzle Tab 🧩 - Each puzzle is themed from 2 recent news stories. Feel free to catch up on the stories first, or just dive right in and play! - Feeling stuck? Take an extra hint by tapping on a lightbulb 💡 - Earn emoji awards at the end of the game, with custom insights unique to your gameplay. - Compete with others—humans and bots—on the leaderboard.
How are the crosswords made? We've built a novel suite of tools that let our crossword editors leverage AI and automation while having full control over the themed stories, the answers, the puzzle construction, the clues, and the hints.
What bots can you compete with? Right now, Claude 4 Opus, GPT o3, and Gemini 2.5 Pro compete alongside humans on the leaderboard.
What kind of emoji awards can I earn? There are many! And the insights are unique to your gameplay. You'll have to keep playing to find them all!
We're really excited for you all to try it out and let us know what you think! support@particle.news or shoot me a note @pandemona on X.
It's a fascinating product. Having grown up professionally using news aggregation sites it's fun to bring this idea back with fully backed in AI to attempt to bring more transparency to the news.
Hardest part about using this app is training yourself to stop using social news feeds and go to a single app for news headlines!
