Uncovering the myths of Incognito & Private browsing

This project is a proof of concept that any website can identify and track you, even if you are using private browsing or incognito mode in your web browser. Many people think that they can hide their identity if they are using private browsing or incognito mode. This project will prove that they are wrong.

Honestly, it's written right in the home page of Incognito mode that incognito is not meant to make you private the way you describe, what's the point of all of this?
Gautam Krishna R
@fezvr4sta Yes. I know this. This is just a proof of concept to let the users know that they can be tracked by the websites. Most people believe that they can isolate their personal data with private data by using incognito mode. They believe that while visiting a site in incognito mode the data they create online is not linked to their real accounts since the incognito mode clears every data about the existing user.

What do you think of Nothing Private?

@gautamkrishnar I believe projects like this one make people realise how they are spied on and be aware the "private" (not so much) browsing. Just would be nice to have a solution to keep data private...

@gautamkrishnar I just used it with Firefox & it did not work
Gautam Krishna R
@palauisaac Sometimes it wont work. Its only a small percentage: https://github.com/gautamkrishna...

Nice POC! Any plan to experiment with machine/hardware fingerprint so it will still identify you even if you switch browser? A bit of canvas fingerprinting or audio fingerprinting, or mouse wheel/speed, CPU?
Gautam Krishna R
@valereonmobile Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I am working on making fingerprints more unique. Will look into those.
