Maya Kosoff
We built the new Nextdoor because we genuinely believe neighborhoods are the heart of everything! With more people working from home and spending time in their communities, we kept hearing the same frustrations from our users: neighbors were juggling multiple apps just to stay informed, missing critical safety updates, and asking the same local questions over and over. It felt fragmented and exhausting. What gets us incredibly excited about this launch is that we're the first platform to truly bring everything together in one place. While other apps focus on just one thing —weather, news, social — we're combining real-time safety alerts, stories from over 3,500 local publishers, and AI that actually learns from 14 years of neighborhood conversations. Imagine asking "where's the best place to hike with kids?" and getting an instant answer that's basically the collective wisdom of your entire community. But honestly, what we're most proud of is that this feels like coming home to our original vision. We're not just building another social app; we're creating the infrastructure for neighbors to build stronger, safer, happier communities together. When we see that we're now delivering over 50,000 locally relevant stories every week to 77% of US cities, and that our AI can turn years of neighbor conversations into helpful insights, it reminds us why we started this in the first place. Every neighborhood deserves to feel like home, and technology should make that easier, not harder.
