Been loving playing around with this! Pretty straight forward concept, like Instagram for 360 photos.
Tip: you don't have to always look crazy moving your phone around, you can scroll too
@bentossel hey Ben! Thanks for hunting us, super stoked to share Lookabout! No 360° camera or extra hardware needed (sorry had a bug w/ Product Hunt mobile app and the original comment disappeared)
@jovisjoseph probably because the US market is the most sought after. And even though Android has a larger base WW, in the US the iPhone dominates. A small unfunded startup has to start with 1 app usually, unless there's a VERY strong reason to launch on both platforms (messaging app for example)
@jovisjoseph hey Jovis, it comes down to validation of the business model in startup phase. It's much easier and faster for us to build, test, and iterate when we're only working on one platform. Then, once we hit product market fit we'll be able to expand to the android segment. Hope you understand!
Looks nice, although I can't play with it as there's no Android app.
The only thing is I question - what happens when Instagram add 360 support? Will this app just fade away?
@benbristowuk hey Ben, very fair question! Instagram will support 360 just like Facebook supports normal photos, they're there but there's a big enough audience (or will be a big enough audience) that just wants to see 360 pics, not normal pics. So instead of sifting through a ton of normal pics on Instagram to find a few 360 ones, you can just go to Lookabout and know that everything is awesome, immersive 360 😄 what's your take?
