Hey 👋 my name is Henrik, Co-Creator of Indiepen. Together with my good friend André, I'm very proud and excited to launch our first open-source project. Indiepen is a simple, privacy-friendly and accessible solution to embed HTML, CSS & JS code examples. Our motivation was to build something we would love to use for our own tech blog. Many of the existing solutions didn't fit our requirements: We care about a modern, fast and fair web, so having a code snippet that doesn't set cookies, include tracking or just a ton of features, was very crucial for us. Since your main competitor is Codepen, can you draw up a quick comparison chart of features to fairly compare your two products? I'm looking for a product like this right now and strongly considering Codepen. Why should I choose you instead? I saw your list of requirements, but I'm not sure which ones Codepen falls short on. Also, I know Codepen has a TON of features. Which features do you not support yet?

We also love CodePen and use it a lot to share ideas on social media but we couldn't use it on our website mainly because CodePen sets cookies even in their CodePen Embed solution. Besides that, let me do a quick comparison: - Performance: Indiepen ships only 20 KB, CodePen a bit more. - Accessibility: Both solutions are very strong here. - Privacy: Indiepen doesn't include cookies or tracking, Codepen does - Transparent: Indiepen is open-source software, you can check everything we do on GitHub. - Features: Indiepen is very focused on previewing the result of the code and the ability to discover HTML, CSS and JS. With CodePen, you can rerun the code, run it faster or slower, edit the code, fork it, create code examples with CSS preprocessors such as SCSS or HTML template languages. - Hosting/Social Network: Indiepen is not a hosting platform or a social network. You host your code examples somewhere on the internet and Indiepen takes care of previewing your code. CodePen is basically a social network for web developers, nothing we try to rebuild.
