I've been using Rails Generators more and more the last couple of years, and after feeling like I had unlocked a super power, the more Rails developers I talked to about it, the more I realized how few people were really using them to their full potential. About a year ago I wrote a lengthy blog post about [creating custom Rails generators](https://garrettdimon.com/journal...). It was fairly well-received, and I had just been laid off, so it seemed like a good time to just keep going and write an entire book about them. While the book does go into detail generators, everything about the book and its resources revolves around leveraging them to save time by choosing good generator-oriented tasks as well as understanding generators well enough to be able to build and test them quickly and efficiently.
