what's up, ph. my name is Mick, and I'm the designer and director of FanLabel, an app that lets you build out your own "fantasy record label", and be rewarded for it. 🤨 how does it work? in fantasy sports, you get points based performance of the players you've picked. in FanLabel, you get points based on the success of each song you pick. that value is driven by the accumulative total of song streams, from Spotify, Apple Music, and more, combined. to make this happen, we're partnered with all major record labels (e.g. Sony, UMG, WMG), and have integrations w/ Spotify (and Apple Music, soon). 🤔 how are people using it? we recognize that music becomes more exciting when listeners are invested in the success of their favorite musicians. we see our players developing an increased affinity towards established and emerging artists alike, as they have a stake in their success, and even the potential to launch their career – all while being rewarded through merch, gift cards, AirPods, VIP experiences, and more. we also hosts events around popular musicians each week, most recently around Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights’ album release in October. over the course of a single week, players participated in 35 themed contests on the app for the chance to win a prize pack of sold-out merch, signed vinyl records and more. we surpassed over 127,000 entries leading to almost 5,000 minutes of listening to Taylor Swift tracks. 🧐 how is this a business? we're driving discovery, industry revenue events, promotion – and on the backend, collecting high value data intelligence into which artists are (and are going to be) trending, as well as insight into track performance in the experience. we have a pulse on industry metrics including song plays, shares, picks, and playlist saves, and delivers this information to partners. that's aside from the in-game IAP opportunities. 😯 what's our endgame? our mission is to transform the way everyone engages with music, with the goal of placing power in the hands of the listener, and understanding that fans want a say in picking and promoting the next big hit. In the future, we want to be a way to allow players in the community to become a their own real-world “micro-labels”; creating "A&R" talent scouts out of thousands of players, each one trying to earn amazing rewards by proving that they not only know music, they know hit music. feel free to ask me anything, and I'll see ya on the leaderboards ♪
