What do you think? …

I find it hard to believe that you have over 3 million open wifi networks in New York. The population of the city is only 9 million. Even if you already have every single open wifi network in the city that's still unbelievable. The map seems to confirm the same. Many empty regions spanning several blocks even in Downtown Manhattan. A quick Google Search shows that there are about 24000 eating establishments in New York (restaurants, takeout, cafes, delis etc). Even if they all have open wifi networks, that's still less than 1% of 3M. Are 99% of free wifi networks located in non-eating establishments? Still a cool app, and it wouldn't be any less cool if you claimed to have only 30K wifi networks in NYC. However, your huge claim makes me skeptical.

Hey, Hunters! Founder of Wiman here. Since the launch of Wiman Free WiFi Android App (http://bit.ly/Wiman-Android) thanks to the community we have added more than 70M open WiFi worldwide and helped millions of users to get seamlessly online. The basic idea is very simple: we are surrounded by a lot of open WiFi and we want to help users find and connect to them. Now you can browse the WiFi maps even by the Wiman website. For every major city, we provide you with: - the total number of available Free WiFi - the top venues with Free WiFi - the map with all location-based venues providing Free WiFi Read more on our blog: http://bit.ly/wiman-web-launch We’re working to bind any public venue to a specific WiFi (when possible) to add more value to our database. Feedbacks are welcome!

Great job guys! Do you automatically detect a new free wi-fi or users can add it to your database??

@duplikey our database is made of 4 different layers: Layer 1- All open wifi are automatically added by the Wiman Android App Layer 2- Verified wifi, it means that at least one user from the Wiman Community has used that wifi successfully Layer 3- Explicit feedbacks from the Wiman Community (speed test, rating, venue bind, etc) Layer 4- Shared password wifi, a user has shared the wifi password with the Community through the App
