It's hard to launch a side project. And it rarely happens. It is challenging to launch a side project because it is challenging to work on a side project. We expect too much from it. A side project isn't like our 9 to 5 job's projects. We work on a project at our 9 to 5 job all weekdays, but on a side project, we only work on the weekends. A project at work usually has a manager who supervises the work, but on our side project, there is no manager. The project at work has a deadline, but our side project hasn't. And lastly, at work, we're getting paid, and for a side project, we're obviously not. These differences in working processes and motivations require a completely different set of tools from the tools we use to manage projects and tasks at our daily job. The tools we use to manage our side project were built under the assumption that we are entirely focused, motivated, and working on one thing only because they were built to help exactly in these conditions. We started to feel it as we worked on all of our previous side projects, which were never launched. So we decided to work on a side project that would help us launch itself: Weekend (yes, we worked on Weekend on weekends). This is a small, lightweight app, built to be much less into management and more about pushing tasks. And it actually helped us. Emoji tags help us to easily find and filter tasks on similar topics like bugs (🐞), ideas (💡) and urgent tasks (🔥), which are based on our associations. When we paused working on a task, we knew that by next weekend we probably forget where we stopped, so we've built Checkpoints that let us eyeball a % and leave a note, so we could remember where we took off last time. Feature by feature, it was more convenient for us working on Weekend, and today we invite you to start using it as well! DUDE you guys nailed it with this lightweight app. The landing page is simple, and effective & also love the tone of the copy! My favorite feature is how intuitive to use the swipe gesture to update on % complete and keep notes on milestones. The font of % increasing is such a magical touch. Again, so simple but it's effective. Already tried it out and am already a fan! Well done you guys!
