Explore any city on your own terms with guides for transport, money, language, and neighbourhoods. Your essential travel companion companion for all city breaks.
Hello PH community, Max here: long time lurker, first time launcher!
After a year of hard work chipping away between client projects, and a couple of countless late nights, I'm over the moon to finally introduce Waywise: an AI-powered city guide app for iOS.
Waywise started life a year ago (almost to the day) as a city-specific, GPT-powered translation app I built for an upcoming trip to Mexico. However, after browsing the App Store, I realised that there was a gap in the market for a travel app dedicated solely to the essentials of navigating a city.
We deliberately avoid itinerary planning and tour ticket sales, concentrating instead on providing the crucial information that enhances your travel experience and empowers you to explore a city on your own terms. Things such as:
🛬 Transport information: Detailed guides on airports, train and bus stations, and local public transit.
🗣️ Local language: Handy translations, colloquialisms, and a comprehensive phrasebook for all major spoken languages.
💶 Currency tips: Information on cash, cashless payments, stored value cards, and tipping etiquette.
🪧 Neighbourhood insights: Discover the best places to stay, shop, party and explore the sights.
Purchase verified city guides for a lifetime one-off fee, with offline access and free future updates forever, or with our WPass subscription you can unlock all city guides as well as the ability to generate a guide for any city with a population over 100,000.
Waywise is just getting started so any feedback is incredibly appreciated.
I have just downloaded Waywise for my forthcoming trip to Barcelona, and I must assert that the journey has begun! I have never possessed such a refined and intuitive travel assistant within my reach. Here is my assessment following the initial exploration of this application:
User Interface: Neat, clear, and the effortless navigation offers a refreshing experience. The app greeted me with a cordial tutorial that promptly acquainted me with its functionalities.
Transportation: Exploring a new city can be intimidating, yet Waywise simplifies the transportation system into manageable segments. From the metro map to bus schedules, this app has been my reliable source for traveling from one place to another with ease.
Local Language: A true savior for someone who is not proficient in Spanish. The phrasebook and translation features have already facilitated more natural interactions with the locals, and I appreciate the colloquialism section for learning local slang.
Currency and Tipping: These minute details that have a significant impact. With Waywise, I do not have to concern myself with immediate currency conversion or feel uncomfortable about tipping etiquette – everything is neatly incorporated within the app.
Neighborhood Gems: Insights into neighborhoods elevate Waywise to a higher level. It is as if having a local friend provides you with tips on the best concealed spots for tapas and local markets. I am fond of the personalized recommendations.
Value for Money: Taking into account the lifetime access to verified city guides or the subscription model, I believe it is an excellent bargain. I chose a city guide for my trip because I desired offline access, but the subscription is enticing for long-term usage.
It is still the early stages of my experience with Waywise, but I am already convinced of its potential to render my travel experiences more effortless and enjoyable. If you are a traveler in search of a companion that not only directs you where to go but also assists you in experiencing the place genuinely, Waywise is your new most reliable friend.
I recently went to Oslo and had the chance to use Waywise, and it is a phenomenal travel app. Previously, I reached for Google to translate, convert currency and find good spots to eat and do things – however having all of this offline and already ready to go before my trip was game-changing. The interface is super fast and intuitive; and it even predownloaded generated speech for common translations so I could get by in Norwegian as soon as I landed. A must have if you're travelling and a bargain at the price it's offered – you'll easily save that from avoiding tourist traps or hidden costs. Give it a go!
