The route planning works like any standard app out there, Google Maps and so on, giving you a selection of routes that are available from a location to another The carbon calculation is done by taking the different modes of transport for the route and using an average carbon emissions per mile and combining these values together And the offsetting side of it is done by planting trees using local conservation projects around the UK, 100% of the money spent purchasing trees goes to these organisations
