Hey hunters! CryptoPunks and This Person Does Not Exist inspired me to dabble in generative art. I took a set of random faces and started running them through a StyleGAN with some punks. The result was horrifying and the results will never see the light of day. But I still felt compelled to do something interesting, especially since I'd already purchased thispunkdoesnotexist.art on Namecheap for a steal. I began to tinker with a number of other tools for randomly generating works within the bounds of what I'd started. Yet again, the results were horrifying and because at the time, I was aiming to deploy these fully on-chain, the images were tiny and lame. In the end I took what I learned and used it to create a simple method for generating vector images based on my aesthetically displeasing attempts made previously. The result was 404 non-existent punks, generated as SVG images that are nicely scalable in case anyone wants one on their wall. Unfortunately, it was prohibitively expensive deploying these to Ethereum on-chain as originally intended with base64 encoding within a data URI stored in tokenUri. So I went with the next best thing and deployed the works to IPFS and Filecoin, plus pinned them permanently to Arweave. I had so much fun with this project and learned a tonne. Much to my surprise a collector scooped up a bunch of them soon after deployment. Crazy thing is, after doing some research I learned that the collector, known as Blockbird, is one of the biggest and best known NFT collectors (did some digging on Nansen.ai). He (I think) was even nice enough to make offers of $404 on ten pieces (because on-brand, I guess) and blew my mind with 1 ETH on another. Anyhow, I've learned so much through this experience, but am well aware that I know very little compared to the actual developers I'm working with on our ART HAUS project (launched on PH couple days ago). @stewup Thanks so much! We are getting right into the utility side of things. Been doing a bunch of experiments. Such an awesome place to explore creativity. Have you collected any NFTs yourself?
