Virtual Event Chat Kit
UI kit & sample app for building in-app virtual event chat
100+ polished screens coalesce into mapped-out flows so you and your team can jump into Figma and create your own custom event chat faster than ever. The sample app shows Stream's chat API, also free for personal use and small projects, powering the backend.
It’s been an honor to see a number of the world’s largest virtual event platforms trust components and infrastructure from Stream to power their in-app chat experiences and create meaningful connections between attendees, and I’m excited to see what individual designers, developers, and organizations of all sizes will create with this new free kit.
One of my favorite things about this new UI kit is that it comes ready to use at scale — with polished chat designs prepared for all of the various rooms and spaces in an enterprise event platform — but it’s also accessible for app designers and developers of all skill levels to experiment with and borrow from. The complete design system in Figma is incredibly intuitive to explore and customize, and I can’t wait to see how others adopt and remix it.
In addition to the UI components included with this kit, Stream also provides all of the API-based infrastructure needed to develop in-app chat using your choice of 9 client-side SDKs. If you’re working on a small side project or new startup, you can get free access to all of these tools by applying for our Maker Account: https://getstream.io/maker-account/
One of the cool things about this kit is that it makes a great hands-on learning project for junior designers and developers to sharpen their skills and build their portfolios. You can play with the Figma file to dial in the designs for your project, and then look at the hosted version of the sample app (https://getstream.io/chat/ui-kit...) as well as the code (https://github.com/GetStream/str...) to learn how enterprise engineering teams are thinking about approaches to in-app messaging at scale.
Highly recommend grabbing this UI kit download and pairing it with a Stream Maker Account for free access to the code side of things: https://getstream.io/maker-account/
As a front-end engineer, I’m just as concerned about the functionality of a project as I am about the way it looks. I like this kit because it lets developers focus on including the features and functions that matter most to their users, while the auto-layout feature of the design system easily adapts to those needs without the added work of rebuilding each component.
Stream allows our users to communicate with each other for every event. It's saved us a bunch of time not having to build it ourselves and it keeps getting better. They've been very helpful and supportive if we ever have any questions!
