@anandx This is so ridiculously cool, congrats. I'd love to see more than a promo—like a deep dive into a workflow across a phone/computer to hololens/magic leap in a single session. For VR devices is it similar to Bigscreen, or is there some extra magic with for eg. people sharing space and objects across devices? Love where this beautiful future is heading :)

@laser_nite Thanks for your wonderful comments! Our initial video was more about introducing our vision but there is a lot of interesting things going on under the hood we hope to break down in the future. If you have any specific questions please let us know. In VR we do a few interesting things. VR users actually have much more "room presence" of what the room looks/feels like because we align a 3d scan of the room into the space. Also the input is cleaner so we have some neat gestures as well. Thanks for the comments!

@arlogilbert Thanks! We are currently working with companies who are using this out across their organizations, pricing depends on how much customization they need. It is available for enterprise usage now. We are hardware agnostic, but AR is our primary platform so HoloLens & Magic Leap are the lead devices. Users can join from VR as well phone or our web app. In the future we are very excited about general commercial availability once AR headsets become affordable. We are starting a trusted tester program for folks with AR/VR hardware that folks can signup for here https://spatial.is/signup Hope that helps!

@anandx Very Cool guys. Love the cross platform support. I'm a little unclear what this means when it says shot in real time? It doesn't quite look like that because of field of view hardware limitations. Regardless, hats off, excited for the future of well-designed spatial computing.

Product Hunt

As more teams hire remote talent and build distributed teams, tools like this will become even more valuable. Of course I and others are immediately skeptical when seeing demos like this after previous hyped projects (Magic Leap comes to mind) never deliver what was promised (at least not in their first gen version). I'm curious how far out this is from consumer adoption, @anandx. Also what's the biggest hurdle to get there so far?

@rrhoover Hey Ryan! I'm a big fan of product hunt and long time user. We are very aware of the hype in the space and are also sensitive to it. For example, we took great pains to film the video in real time with people actually in Spatial and using the features. You can see some of the imperfections shine through. Regarding consumer adoption I think the main hurdle is price. I think with Spatial people are already finding ways that it can deliver productivity/collaborative benefits. But $2-3k is just out of reach for most consumers to justify the value. That's why we're starting with businesses who can afford that investment. It's our "Tesla Roadster" or "Uber Black" strategy. But we are very excited to get our technology in the hands of everyday people!
