Snaplet Seed is an AI-powered tool that lets developers automatically seed their relational databases with realistic, production-like mock data using Typescript.
Hi Product Hunters ๐ We're super excited to be launching Snaplet Seed on PH today!
Snaplet was founded in 2022 by Peter Pistorius, co-creator of RedwoodJS. For years, Peter experienced the frustration of not having good data to code against. His insight was that developers are at their best when they focus on what theyโre best at: coding, not wasting time on tedious tasks like writing and maintaining seed scripts, or messing with production dumps. That's why he formed Snaplet, and collectively, our vision is to help developers get back into flow by giving them production-like data they can code against, in a snap!
With our new tool Snaplet Seed, we intend to:
๐ Use AI to empower developers with realistic, production-like data using their schema
๐ Remove manual tasks like writing and maintaining seed scripts
๐ป Seamlessly fit into the developer workflow with Typescript and built-in integrations for popular relational DBs
โก๏ธ Ultimately, get developers back to doing what they love: solving problems, writing code, and building products
We support:
๐ PostgreSQL
๐ชถ SQLite
๐ฌ MySQL
We appreciate your support and would love to hear your feedback so that we can improve Snaplet Seed, and make our vision a reality!
Upvoted because devs need more heroes like this! Having a tool that sprinkles realistic data seeds feels like it could save a ton of time, and not to mention, avert a few headaches along the way. ๐ฑโก๏ธ๐ณ
Curiosity though, how 'realistic' is this mock data? It's a thin line between useful and too-close-to-home when it comes to mimicking production environments. And are there any flexibility perks for projects that have really unique data needs? Can it understand and adapt to the complexities that might not fit the standard mold? It's always a bonus to have that kind of versatility in your toolbox.๐ ๏ธ๐ก
Looks good!
Have you heard about ozma.io https://www.producthunt.com/prod...? They are not only generating mock data but also the database structure itself. How would you compare your solution to theirs?
