Kenzo Fong
Hey everyone 👋 I'm Kenzo, Founder & CEO of Rock, a collaboration platform made for how we work today. Now used by thousands of users in over 172 countries, we have made hundreds of improvements and changes over the past year that I'm excited to share with the Product Hunt community today. 🏢 Collaboration is a mess Collaboration tools like Slack, Trello, and Asana were built for a world where everyone worked in the same physical location and timezone. These products have been optimized for real-time and continuous communication, which leads to too much noise, loss of productivity, and the pressure to be online all the time. Today over 70% of startups are remote first and teams are more fluid than ever before. A typical project now includes freelancers, agencies, or is done as part of an open source community or decentralized DAOs. All of this requires not just a different way of working, but also a completely new productivity stack built for how we work today. 🤘 Bring order to chaos with Rock We are bringing sanity back to the way we work by solving the following problems:
  • Constant switching between different apps → Rock brings messaging plus tasks and all your favorite apps together in one space.
  • It's too much hassle to start working together → Instantly work with anyone with your own space.new link.
  • Collaboration tools are too expensive → Rock has no limits on the free plan. Radically accessible pay-per-space pricing on the paid plans.
  • 🎸 Messaging and tasks together at last Messaging and tasks are at the core of what builders and makers need to get work done, so we've made them available in the same space. As teams use lots of other services we've made it possible to connect everything from Figma to Notion, Google Docs, and lots more so you can reference them within Rock. Rock is also multi-modal so you can pick and choose how you want to communicate. 📧 Stop settling for email You need to jump through so many hoops to set up a shared tool stack to work together, so in the end you just settle for the lowest common denominator (email, spreadsheets, fax machines :). With Rock, you can now share your personal space.new link or QR code to set up a group space with someone else within seconds. Want to try this out? Come say hi to me at https://space.new/kenzo 🌏 Radically more accessible and affordable Most tools have limited free plans and then charge a lot of money every month if you want to do just a little more. Rock comes with unlimited messages, tasks, people, and spaces for free, and we have pay-per-space pricing for power users. On Rock you do not pay per user instead you sign up for a paid plan and pay the same low price every month. 🎸 Stop slacking, start rocking Already using other tools? No problem as you can easily import from Slack, WhatsApp, Trello, Asana, Jira, and ClickUp and get your team up and running within minutes. Rock is available on Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and web. ❤️ People love us Thousands of people and hundreds of teams already love Rock. Don't believe us? Congrats on the launch. What's the biggest differentiator between Rock and Slack? I don' think Slack or Trello isn't build for remote teams at all. Even if they're not designed for it, they still work perfectly so far. So why should I switch my behaviour for Rock?
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @ho_desmond! The biggest difference between Slack and Rock is that Slack is just messaging, while Rock has messaging and tasks at it's core. Most teams need a combination of both to actually get work done and with Rock you can now do this in one space. We've also been very thoughtful about how we integrate with Notion, Figma, Google Drive, and other apps and make these available in Rock with an actual front-end versus bots/notifications which are not as easy to use. In addition to all of this, we allow people to pick different ways of communicating and switch to a more async way of working. If you have something urgent, you can send a chat message. If you need to discuss something face-to-face, you can start a Zoom or Google Meet call. For everything else we make it easier to do this in a more organized way with comments and topics. This is especially useful for remote teams, as you now don't need to be online all the time as most discussions and decisions are documented so you can catch up when works for you.

Rock makes me more productive I work with my clients. Formerly, I used many different products to manage tasks, messaging, notes, file sharing, etc. I can easily invite my clients to Rock and create a workflow for everyone who needs to follow. It's not easy only for me, it's also easy to use for new users. They're easily adopted to use Rock because it's designed well. And it's free! Most of the productive features are free to use, Rock really supports freelancers (like me) with their free features. I'm using Rock for 1,5 years and I am never disappointed.
