Hey ProductHunt,
I'm proud to finally share a project I've been working on for many years with this community. Review Signal uses public twitter comments to create a transparent web hosting reviews.
I got sick and tired of the affiliate pay-to-play schemes and questionable 'reviews' which dominate the entire industry including lots of well known websites/brands.
The question was, how could I build something that people could actually trust? The incentive to cheat is incredibly high when some companies will pay a ton of money if you send them referrals.
I had written my Master's thesis on using Twitter data to predict movie box office sales and it worked really well. So I thought I could apply the same fundamental idea: use the hundreds of thousands of comments being posted about companies to figure out what people really think about web hosting companies.
Using Twitter, Review Signal can collect more data about web hosting companies than anyone else. It's also unfiltered. They aren't writing for Review Signal, they are just expressing themselves, often to their friends or the companies directly. Most importantly, it's transparent. Every comment is public, so it can be linked and sourced.
Transparency has been my goal since it's the only way to build trust in a horribly corrupt market. To that end I've published a http://reviewsignal.com/howitworks which details how everything works. I also gave an extensive interview with IndieHackers (https://www.indiehackers.com/bus...) which even publishes my revenue.
I'm really happy to share my project with this community and I hope some people here get some value out of it. I'm happy to answer any questions people might have!
