Just in the past year alone I personally have had 2 very irritating cases with 2 large companies - Lenovo and Bell. I placed an order with Lenovo during Thanksgiving week 2020 but cancelled on the same day. Later it took me 3 months of exhausting effort in various channels to finally get my refund. Since May/2020, my Bell internet began to reset multiple times a day, each lasting 3-5 mins. It caused great disturbance to my whole family as everyone relied on internet every day for work/online learning etc. Bell tried to fix by sending technician to my home many times during this COVID time. They replaced 3 modems and another device in basement but couldn't fix the issue. So in Sept/2020 I requested for cancellation. However Bell customer retention department won't cancel without a hefty penalty because I am in 3 year contract. After one time I told the Bell customer retention guy that I was going to report to CRTC if they didn't let me cancel free of penalty, they didn't reply to my email any more since then. I don't know what else I can do - Really file to CRTC bureaucracy? Try BBB (tried many years ago for another case and it didn’t help)? Let Bell charge me then go to small claim court? So in Dec/2020, I decided to build a website for myself and hope it can also help many other consumers like me. The website basically let us consumers tell our stories and group up support to help gain bargain power to request fair treatment e.g. refund/compensation from arrogant businesses, where other channels are either not effective or too exhaustive. The Internet reset is still happening every day. I already put my case on my website. Once I have collected enough support, I will talk to Bell again.
