Imagine if you could track events and activities in Notion with a single tap...
I recently became a dad and I wanted an easy way to track my daughter's feeds, sleep, nappy changes, etc.
I run my entire life in Notion, so Notion was the obvious choice. However, it was becoming a laborious process having to navigate to the right database and type in a name, choose a select option, set the time, etc.
I wanted a way to do this as efficiently as possible - ideally from my Apple Watch. So, I created QuickLog.
Here's how it works:
- When she goes to sleep, I run the QuickLog shortcut on my watch and choose "asleep".
- At any time I can run the shortcut again and it'll tell me exactly how long she's been asleep.
- When she wakes up, I run it again and choose "End Now".
All her activities are logged directly into the supplied Notion database which contains multiple views...
- At a glance I can see the last time she ate, slept, pooped, fed.
- I can see her activities grouped together to see how often she's feeding, or how long in total she slept on a particular day.
- I can look at a week view grouped by activity to see which days she did or didn't poop.
Of course, you can use QuickLog to track anything from baby activities, to personal habits, to work projects, you name it.
The Shortcut was complex to make. It's over 200 steps.
The database views include a lot of formulas to give you nice displays of the relevant information.
The whole thing took a long time to put together, but I made the installation and instructions as simple as possible.
You can set up a new QuickLog Shortcut and accompanying database in about 2 minutes!
I hope you find this as useful as I do. It adds a whole new layer to Notion!
Thanks for checking it out,
~ Joe
