Obscura is a tool for you to create proxy email addresses that forward to your real email address. We built this app for privacy-conscious people. Imagine you wanted to sign up for a new service or a newsletter that requires you to input your email address, but you don't want to input your real email address out of concern for your privacy. Instead of inputing your real email address, you can create a proxy email address with Obscura and input this proxy email address. The idea is to use a new proxy email address for each service you sign up for, similar to how you would use a different password for each service you sign up for, in order to maximize your privacy and security. I don't understand why anyone would want to spend their time creating their own Proxy if there is already a lot of great Proxy at a reasonable price. For example, I am using the Proxy form froxy.com. It is perfect for the job I have. I use it for Price monitoring and market research all around the world. It permits providing information to my clients about their competitors. Does it do anything better than 33mail.com does? 33mail is free with unlimited proxy emails and for 1$/m you can even connect a custom domain.

@dominiquek Thanks for your question! We don’t have ads and we also don’t currently have a bandwidth cap. Also, based on feedback we have adjusted prices. Currently, we don’t offer custom domains, but if it is something we hear people want enough, we can add that as a feature.

@timjwu Thanks for your response :). I'm not trying to shit on your product. I love your interface and idea, so give me a reason to switch from 33mail to obscura! What is the intended use case where large amounts of bandwidth is required but only a few aliases? Personally, I need exactly the opposite for example. Large amounts of aliases that are disposable, and only need a small amount of bandwidth. Does your 4$ plan do anything better than 33mails 1$ plan besides unlimited bandwidth?
