Hi everyone, My Queue is a webapp there you can listen to your favourite articles. We built My Queue because we needed it. We were saving articles and not coming back to them; we’re sure many of you are doing the same. After work, you commute, do chores, go grocery shopping, cook, and go to the gym or walk the dog. All of these moments can be more enjoyable with some audio stimulation. We needed a way to listen to articles from various sources, so that’s what we’ve built! At My Queue, we dream of a world where any written content can be transformed into an audio version and put into our personal playlist. News articles, homework, work documents, sports updates, recipes, wikipedia, short stories, anything. While we aren’t there yet, we’re giving it an honest try. Like cable, audio content on the web is fractured and gated; podcasts are available on Spotify, medium articles on Medium, news articles on CNN. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could consume all of that content in the same play on a hands-free playlist? My queue is about the freedom to choose the moment to dive into that article. If you want to read it, read it. If you want to listen to it, listen to it. You should be able to choose what fits best in your situation. Stay up-to-date whenever it suits you, how it works for you. We’ve been using My Queue and are obsessed with it — and we hope you will be too.

😹 LOL
@sander_crombach hopefully you can make it a paid feature for people to have maybe celebrities read back an article. Also, there’s currently issues with trying to add articles when another one was previously playing. There was an article where not even the full title was read. I already informed Mr Barth that Mr T would be a great addition. 😊

@bustosandrew Haha, if we add Mr T as a celeb voice, we have to program it to add randomly 'I pity the fool' throughout the article ;)

@sander_crombach Congratulations on the launch. There is definitely a need for this but have seen attempts from Umano 6.0 (iOS) and Text to Podcast Extension by Podcastle. What are you doing differently, and how do you just sustain with article listening features? Listening.io also started with this idea but has now pivoted.

@indianidle Interesting and fair question. Umano was truly in a different era. And I don't know why listening.io has pivoted, why they changed their initial idea. We have our own roadmap and future plans that we trust, and we are going in a different direction than them. The timing is also different. In recent years we went from office, to staying at home, and now commuting again to work. Let alone, in the past months AI became more acceptable.

💡 Bright idea
Interesting stuff 1. what type of pricing model are you guys thinking of? 2. If I add an article to my "queue" using PC, and I listen to the article on my cell, how long are you planning to store the audio version of this article on cloud?

@jacobsi Hi Jacob, those are good questions. 1. We are not sure yet, we are still in MVP mode. We first want to see if there is a need for a tool like this, that's why we added it as a beta on PH. If the validation of the idea is successful, we could think of a premium model in the future for uploading long reads, or a new feature where you can upload a PDF or Word document. We are still figuring this out. 2. Since we are an MVP, that is something we haven't decided on yet. First, we want to see if we should continue building this product.

@jacobsi Hey Jacob, cool and relevant Qs indeed. I'll expand on the second question, we're currently permanently keeping them in the cloud, however, we have a maximum limit of 5 per user, however, you may delete and upload another. This is done to keep our costs down during free MVP period. After that, we'll have to see how people are using this, but my guess now is that after a article is listened to, we will automatically remove the generated file from cloud, as I think we'll see that, unlike a music player, there will not be a lot of repeated listens of the same content.

Hey there, I wanted to share my thoughts on My Queue - it's such a cool product. I love the idea of being able to listen to written content hands-free. Congratulations to the makers on creating such a useful tool! Keep up the great work! 👏

This looks very useful and the first tests went super smoothly. I will put it through its paces later when I walk the dogs. But congrats on the launch, the product and website are looking great 🎉

I like the simplicity of the UX but the audio sounds very robotic. I was hoping it would sound more natural, especially as text to audio models have improved. Also one note for the makers: The signup process starts with Typeform. I almost bailed, thinking this was a waitlist signup. It might be more clear to be explicit that the product is available to use after the survey.
