Nimesh
Hello hello Product Hunt 👋 Nim here! Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I want to share what @amir_bio and I have been cooking up for the last couple of months. 🟥 Problem: Waste. We and many of the people we had spoken to ran into these same issues: - *Opens fridge/cupboard* • “What can I eat now? 🤔 - “I’ve got x and y, wonder what I can make with these? 👀” - “I forgot I bought that — now it’s expired and I have to throw it away🚚” This got us wondering why hasn’t someone solved this. We found some underwhelming options, all definitely had their merits but nothing quite right 🤌 🟢 Solution: A digital sous chef. BOOM — littlecook was born. The knowledge of the world wide web curated for your kitchen. How it works: 1. You tell us what you have in your kitchen. 2. We show you what you can cook. 3. Profit 💸 🔷 Benefits: – Find what you can make with what you already have. 😋 – Discover curated recipes — new recipes added every month! 🗺️ – Buy with confidence using our smart shopping list. 🛒 – Curate and share your own cookbook. 💚 🌕 Coming up next: - Plan your meals weeks ahead. - Share your shopping list with others. - Combine Kitchen with others and cook together. - Keep track of waste saved, meals cooked, and calories consumed. What do you think we should build next? We’d love to hear any feedback you have for us 🙂👂 Happy cooking! Nimesh and Amir P.S. I like how you combined solving food decision/knowledge problems and solving waste issues. I just installed the app, but I'll try it at home and reference everything in my fridge. Just curious; everything is free now. Do you plan to keep it free? Good project, I do approve idea!! (I mostly like all ideas when it's about food, hehe) Congrats @supnim and @amir_bio !

@steevep Thank you for the very kind words Steeve, very much appreciated! Excellent question on the pricing, we will always offer a very generous free tier. We want to keep it completely free for now to gather as much user feedback as possible. I'd love to hear how you find the app and also hear your thoughts on what kind of pricing option would be reasonable for you.

💡 Bright idea
@amir_bio Hello 👋 After testing and playing with the app: - first I like the design - I’m a bit lost between tabs and action, particularly when it’s about adding food: I was often asking myself “I’m adding food for what” ? - I like the home page with all recipes recommandations with the number of missing ingredients, but it feels a bit hidden below the section “ready to make” that is empty on my side. - recipes are clean and simple to follow - could be nice if a picture is illustrating the step of the recipe - at some point, I’ll be lazy to follow up all my ingredients everyday into the app, it could be cool if my fridge could analyse all ingredients available and synchronise into your app - in the explore tab, it could be interesting to filter by dessert / country specialties / vegetarian / etc… (like Uber eat) Keep pushing the idea and project guys!!

@steevep Hey Steeve, thank you so much for this feedback, it's extremely valuable and appreciated! Coincidently I was just implementing cuisine and dish type filters for explore page, so they're coming in the next release! One question on this suggestion: " it could be cool if my fridge could analyse all ingredients available and synchronise into your app" - Out of interest, do you have a smart fridge or do you mean something different by your fridge analysing the ingredients? This is definitely something that we're experimenting on constantly and have a few ideas on - in particular, all main flows in the app account for the ingredients not potentially being up to date and we aim to allow for easy ways of adding/removing as needed. For example we can add ingredients to shopping list or Kitchen/Pantry directly from the recipe page. We're also looking into using computer vision and ML for recognising ingredients from photos taken of Fridge and pantry and maybe also scanning receipts. So keep your eye out for these features. Again, thank you so much for the feedback - I hope littlecook helps you save some waste and explore new recipes!

@amir_bio > do you have a smart fridge or do you mean something different by your fridge analysing the ingredients? I don't have a smart fridge, but I would love to synchronise all ingredients available with my phone/app like littlecook. I just saw it already exists (but it is expensive). You are welcome!
Amir Andohkosh
Hello @steevep! I forgot to ask, which was the option you found which was expensive?

"- *Opens fridge/cupboard* • “What can I eat now? 🤔 - “I’ve got x and y, wonder what I can make with these? 👀” - “I forgot I bought that — now it’s expired and I have to throw it away🚚”" Me today 😅 Amazing idea!

also just love the fact that in most popular I found "polskie naleśniki" <3

@a_budzialowska OMG you're exactly who we're solving for :) I hope you enjoy using it and if you have feedback Agneieszka we welcome it massively, big or small. <3
