Hi friends, I'm Mike, a freelance web/mobile developer. One day, I was working on a project and needed an easy way to fetch favicons (logo icons for another website). Unfortunately, this is a bit of a pain – there's many different icons with different sizes & they're found in different places (Twitter thread I made a while back about it). And if the site cannot be found or has no icons you could end up with a big ugly broken image! All I wanted to do was to embed a little icon of a website, why was it so complicated? 😢 And so I started working on what has become Icon Horse (side note, did you know there's yoursite.horse domain names? I didn't). It's designed to be like Gravatars but for websites. It can be used anywhere, like in your own websites + mobile or desktop apps. Plus, if the site is unreachable or has no icons, no problem! Icon Horse serves a fallback icon (paid users can even customise the fallback!), so you never have a broken image! I'm super impressed by it - it's super intuitive and quick, and solves a niche that not many people have thought to solve. Really great peace of tech here. Love how there's a "How to use" part of the website as well. It's so great to see a product with a crystal-clear proposition that delivers. Great work Mike.
