Find Study Buddies on Stacks is way to meet new people in the online course community.

On Stacks, you create a profile of all of the courses you have completed, are currently taking, or are interested in. Our algorithm will then match you up with other learners who have similar interests. From there, you can add each other as Study Buddies!

Hello hunters! I've been a super fan of MOOCs for the past 2 years now and I've always wanted to build something for the community. I wanted to build something that would help make MOOCs more fun and would help the community grow. Today, after several months of hard work, I'm excited to announce the launch of Find Study Buddies on Stacks! On Stacks, you create a profile of all of the courses you have completed, are currently taking, or are interested in. Our algorithm will then match you up with other learners who have similar interests. From there, you can add each other as Study Buddies! Having a Study Buddy is meant to be a meaningful connection that can serve a number of different purposes. You and your Study Buddy can ask and answer questions about your course via the Stacks messenger. You can arrange time to meetup and study on Skype, Hangouts, Discord, etc. Or you can even just rely on each other for motivation and social accountability - anytime you start a new course it will show up on your buddy's news feed and they will get an email notification. At the moment, our course catalog consists of all courses from Coursera, edX, Udacity and The Great Courses. I, as well as several members of our community, would love for you all to join! Nice initiative. How are you building community around it?

@keyul Good question. So far that's been the hardest part. I've gotten a lot of sign ups by launching on here and Hacker News. I'll probably need to run ads to really get the critical mass this needs to succeed.
