Feed-A-Friend is a platform that lets you help both the hungry and restaurants by donating credits to major food delivery services like DoorDash. Anyone can request credits and donors choose who gets their money!

How about supermarket gift cards instead? I don't think what is effectivly 'eating out' is sustainable here. If someone has no reliable income source, collectivly we should be aiming towards sustainable food solutions. I get and understand the 'supporting local businesses' angle. However this is essentially having someone 'eat out' when they have little income. How does this help them 'tomorrow' or the 'next day'? Are they going to have to submit another request? What happens if they don't get the donation, and then have nothing? I think donations for a supermarket trip make much more sense.

@adam_jarvis this is a really great point. Fundamentally, feed-a-friend is a temporary solution for people. That said, once someone makes a profile, they remain in the system - they just get pushed further back in the queue but donors will still be able to find them. To your point about sustainability of helping people, one of the big things is that supporting restaurants is really really important to us. Supermarket donations / integrations with mutual aid networks could be something we work on in the future.
