Leave the spreadsheets behind and take control of your travel plans. Ellipsis is an all-in-one travel planner to help you discover great experiences, map out your options, and create a seamless trip itinerary.
Hey Everyone,
I’m Dan, Founder of Ellipsis.
After years of planning trips and countless hours spent wrangling group chats, spreadsheets, Google Maps, and a myriad of blogs, I got tired of having to manually bring all the necessary information together just so I could break it into understandable chunks. Instead, my team and I created Ellipsis to centralize everything you need, from inspiration to itinerary, in one easy-to-use platform.
Why Ellipsis?
🌎 Integrated Map w/ Location Overviews: Our map-centric interface with location summaries makes finding and saving ideas a breeze
🕛Search Live Events: Discover Concerts, Tours, Festivals, and more when and where you will be traveling (Alternative – know which live events are happening before you leave!)
📑Adaptable Itinerary: Create, edit, or move around events to create a trip plan
💡 Inspiration: Browse user-created templates to fill out adventures to any location
💬Collaboration: Share with friends and plan together
📈Organization: Track budgets, bookings, and tasks
Give it a whirl and let us know what you think!
Thanks,
Dan
Hey @daniel_evans12 I know the pain. I'm currently planning a trip to Cambodia and you know what, where I store all my information in Google Docs and Sheets 🙈 ... it gets messy so fast. Especially on longer trips.
So a tool like yours is really helpful. Some quick things I've seen so far
- For the events in the itinerary I would like to add an end time as well, for example to enter the flight information on the first and last day (including time zones 😁)
- The live events feature is great, this is always something I think we miss out on because it is so hard to get information about local events, would be nice to have a community curated list here as well
Congrats on the launch 🚀
@crebuh We just removed end times based on user feedback 🤣 ... we'll have to keep evaluating that one. Maybe an add action next to the start time. We've also historically had a calendar with full drag and drop for adding and setting durations, we plan to add it back at some point, but it's a little difficult to get the interactions perfect.
For time zones, we have full support in our backend, but haven't gotten to adding the forms to update them. Right now we set the timezones based on the origin and destination of the flight and then assume the user is entering all times local to their plans (i.e. the starting time would be local to the origin, and the end time would be local to the destination). We do the same with the other itinerary items.
Coming soon: We are in the process of adding flights from flight number and date.
Hey Dan,
How does the platform source and verify the quality of the experiences and events it recommends?
How does it handle last-minute changes or cancellations?
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin Thank you! Short answer, we pass most of these responsibilities upstream to our affiliate partners.
Long answer, changes and cancellations are fully the responsibility of our booking partners, since we made a choice not to manage the bookings themselves.
As for quality and recommendations, all of our partners do a great job verifying and vetting the offerings supplied to us. We take their data and use your planned itinerary to find the best experiences and events that fit your trip. The more data we have (ratings, reviews, etc.) the better our recommendations are.
