[Maker's Story]
I experienced panic disorder myself. But that's not why I built Elissa. The real problem I wanted to solve was -
people suffering from panic attacks ALONE.
Because of my background in psychiatry (I’m an APA student member), I knew how to reach out for help. That saved me from suffering alone—but many around me were different. They didn’t recognize their panic symptoms, and they felt unsure about therapy and medication.
I noticed something simple yet powerful: whenever they opened up to me, they seemed to be significantly better—almost like “talking” alone was part of the remedy. But it was impossible for me to be there 24/7, so I thought, “Why not build an app that’s always available for them instead of me?” That’s how Elissa came to life.
I took a leave of absence just to build this app. And here we are: a panic companion on your phone, with privacy at the core. I know people are still reluctant to visit psychiatrist and there's social stigma toward having mental problems. But don't suffer ALONE! Elissa will always be by your side :)
Hey @hyuntak_lee , just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the work you've put into Elissa. Having gone through panic attacks myself, I can genuinely say this app feels like something I could’ve really used back then. It’s not just another mental health app—it feels like a quiet, reliable companion during tough moments.
The multilingual support, SOS tools, and the panic logger are all super thoughtfully designed. It’s clear Elissa is built with real understanding of what people go through in those anxious episodes. And the fact that everything is private and secure? Huge win for users who value their peace of mind.
What I love the most is how accessible and practical the app is. I can see this being an invaluable tool for so many people, and I’m excited to see how it continues to grow and evolve. Keep up the amazing work!
@ambika_vaish Hey Ambika, this is the highest compliment that Elissa and I could receive. You pointed out every aspects I specifically worked on in the view of panic attack sufferer. Since I, too, "know the taste" of the attacks, I knew where to start from and where to give more touch. And I've interviewed many diagnosed patients in the way, they guided me the directions too.
My mission as a med person has always been to help people suffering from mental hardships. Now that Elissa has joined my mission, let's see how we realize the vision! Thank you again Ambika for leaving thoughtful and sincere comment on this page. Your comment makes this post shine :)
@hyuntak_lee I’m so glad my comment resonated with you. It’s clear how much care and personal experience went into Elissa — it really shines through. I think the combination of empathy, real user feedback, and your medical background creates something truly special here.
Your mission to help people with mental hardships is inspiring, and I can see how Elissa is a powerful extension of that. I’m excited to see how the app grows and supports even more people in the future. Keep up the incredible work — it’s making a real difference!
I was able to download it on my phone and I must say that the design was perfect and minimalistic which is great for the purpose of this app.
Going through the features,
I liked the breathing exercise to help during panic attacks.
and though I didn't have questions regarding this I used the chat feature to talk about my stress and situation at work, which in return it analyzed the root cause of time management and gave me some tips to handle my daily workload better.
I'm looking forward to see how it evolves in the future and recommend it to my friends!
@ali_sahlolbei Thanks Ali for downloading it it on my pre-launch season and leaving positive feedback!
Yes, the calming design and focusing on necessary features, keeping minimalistic was my approach.
I really appreciate your using my app and referral to your friends! I hope Elissa helps you and your friends going through the days!

Elissa feels like a therapist in your pocket—so cool! Can the AI respond to voice notes for hands-free logging? Adding live workshops (CBT webinars) might deepen user learning.
@desmond_ren1 Thanks Desmond for your interest in Elissa!
Voice input for chatting with Elissa is actually being ready at the moment, and thank you for the idea of hands-free logging! I couldn't come up with that idea when I was making it.
I'm planning to make a community of Elissa users so that I can send them newsletters with interesting facts about panic and anxiety and of course live webinars!
I'd like to give you an award of Bright Idea for helping me improve the product. Thank you Desmond!
