Hi, Raphael and Christian here, co-founders of Deskimo (deskimo.com). Thanks @katmanalac for hunting us! Have you ever experienced Zoom calls with kids screaming in the background? Gotten back pain after working for a few hours from the kitchen counter? Tried to have an online meeting while your partner is on the phone too? Or tried to get deep work done while your pets are begging for your attention? Most companies will move to a hybrid workplace post-pandemic, but haven’t sufficiently thought through or addressed the above challenges. The current mix between the headquarters and home office will be insufficient. There is a need for a broader and more flexible spectrum of workplaces. As a result, we believe that the future will be a hub & spoke office model with downsized, centrally-located headquarters (= hubs), and satellite offices (= spokes) scattered across the city to a) reduce commute times for employees, and b) reduce cost per desk for companies. Companies will leverage technology to give their employees access to work sites depending on their needs to manage their real estate occupancy and employee health & safety. We both have gathered a lot of experience in building startups in proptech and hospitality, on-demand businesses and marketplaces. We were co-founders at Foodpanda, now part of Delivery Hero ($DHER), before founding HotelQuickly, which turned into an OTA processing $100m in annualized GBV (exited in 2017). I then co-founded GoBee.Bike, which was the second largest bike-sharing company outside of China, before becoming the Head of Asia at Rocket Internet. Christian co-founded GuestReady after HotelQuickly, which is now the leading Airbnb-management company in Europe and the Middle East. The future of work will impact most of us, and it will transform real estate and urban development over the long run. ?makers Congratulations on the launch! I really appreciate your deep understanding of urbanism and its impact on society, well-illustrated through the 'hub and spoke' model. Curious to know how you differentiate Deskimo from other players like WeWork.. and what are the expansion plans?

Many thanks for your question @adityavsc ! WeWork and similar operators can be partners of Deskimo. We aggregate these professional workspace operators in an asset-light model. We do not operate any spaces ourselves, but we have tight quality controls and make sure all our partners provide a good experience to our users. We are more like a booking.com or a hotels.com, whereas WeWork is more like a marriott.com or a hilton.com, if that makes sense. We will expand our geo footprint in the foreseeable future, but we'll likely focus on Asia-Pacific first. Where do you live? Would Deskimo make sense there?

@mischler Yes, Christian! It does make sense. So Deskimo is a mega-aggregator of all the co-working products already existing. Love it :) I live in New Delhi - India, and yes, it would make a lot of sense to start here since the distances travelled by the employees are quite long, giving rise to other mega-cities like Gurugram, Noida, etc on the outskirts of Delhi. Having said that, I think it would make more sense to launch in Bangalore (the Startup capital of India) :)

@adityavsc Great insights Aditya. I've been to New Delhi and yes, similar to SEA the traffic congestion and the distances are a problem. Working from home or a remote place solves this to some extent, but then again not many have a suitable home office setup. We will definitely keep India in mind in our expansion plans!
