Hey everyone,
I’m Levi, the developer behind Defer. I’m thrilled to share the app with you all. 🌟
Defer is the universal task inbox app for iOS & macOS that I built to help me stay in the moment. No more deciding which app, list, tag, or folder to use when a to-do enters your brain. Just capture it and know you'll process it later.
📱 NOW - Capture and carry on. Whether it’s “Email James” or “Buy olive oil,” Defer lets you jot it down without disrupting your life.
🖥️ LATER - Use the iOS or Mac app to organize tasks where they belong. Send some to your work tasks, others to personal lists, and snooze the rest until you need them.
⭐️ MAKE IT YOUR OWN - Pro users can dive deep into customization. On the iOS app, choose your fonts, colors, and icons to make Defer truly yours.
🤓 NERDY SECRET WEAPONS - Use Siri, Shortcuts, and Webhooks to supercharge your productivity. Just say, “Siri, Defer Something.” Type a natural date like "tomorrow" to snooze tasks. Pro users can set up webhooks to seamlessly integrate with other apps via automation tools like Zapier or Make.
It's free to start using. Pay $5.99/yr (USD) if you want some of those powerups.
I built Defer to clear my mind. I hope it de-stresses yours a bit too! Give it a try and let me know what you think.
@levinels Hi Levi,
Just downloaded Defer and I'm really impressed with the concept! Capturing tasks quickly and sorting them later is a struggle I constantly face.
I noticed you mentioned nerdy secret weapons like Shortcuts and webhooks. As a full stackdeveloper I'm particularly interested in exploring the automation potential of Defer. Perhaps there could be ways to:
- Offer pre-built automation options for popular tools and workflows (e.g., sending tasks to specific project management apps).
- Create a platform for users to share custom automations built with Shortcuts and webhooks.
Overall, Defer seems like a valuable tool and I'm excited to see how it evolves. I'd be happy to discuss my automation ideas further if you're interested in exploring potential collaboration.
In the meantime, I'll be putting Defer through its paces and letting you know what I think of the power-up features.
Thanks,
Max
Having it on my menu bar seems pretty useful because sometimes I would type out my todo list on a floating notes on my mac. Gonna try this out, thanks!
@kyrylosilin That's something I've thought about but its deceptively complex to build a good experience for repeating tasks. So maybe! If something's recurring, it might be better suited for other task management apps instead of an "inbox" app.
Focused app that fits my workflow perfectly. Actually, I made an iOS app with the very same intention but did not have capacity to maintain and extend the features. I am very happy with Defer!
