Nomad List tracks tens of thousands of location independent remote workers.
In this report, we try to figure out who these digital nomads are, what work do they do, and how they spend their life based on data from tens of thousands of Nomad List members.

👋 Hi hunters! 🚀 Remote work is now on an exponential trajectory and growing fast. With its growth, millions of people who are now newly working remotely from home, a cafe, or coworking space, I think will start to realize how mobile they've come and hit the road. 🤔 Problem Previous studies about digital nomads have had the challenge of low sample sizes, this study is based on data from tens of thousands of Nomad List members. This sample size makes the biggest study out there of actual digital nomads (not just people who have the intention to become one like many studies). 💡 Solution My site Nomad List already follows tens of thousands of digital nomads. So it's in the best position to study them. In this report, I try to figure out who these nomads are, what work do they do, and how they spend their life. This report is generated live with data pulled straight from my database. Conclusions you can derive from this about digital nomads and remote workers are as always limited and merely indicative but possibly interesting. There is a selection bias due to Nomad List members having to pay to join the site, so it's not a random population. The title of this report is inspired by Buffer's amazing annual remote work report (and used with permission). 💖 I hope you like it and let me know any other stats I can generate for you about nomads!

Congrats on launching this, Pieter! The report is extremely interesting and gives a really good overview of who the average digital nomad is. What are some questions / insights you wanted to include in the report but couldn't? (because of lack of data, no way to measure accurately, etc.)

Review Nomad List?

Nomad List offers a platform for remote workers to find the best cities to live and work based on various metrics. While some users appreciate its intuitive design and the community aspect, others criticize the lack of support and inaccurate data. Several users express frustration over account issues and the perceived value of the service, suggesting it could be a free alternative. Despite these concerns, some find the data organization and community meetups beneficial. Overall, opinions are mixed, with significant room for improvement in customer support and data accuracy.

I joined nomad list, paid for the membership and was flagged because they said my profile picture was AI generated. It wasn't. There is no way to contact them and no support. They block your account until you change your photo which is ridiculous since it's LITERALLY my photo. If you are going to flag people unnecessarily, you should at least have support to fix the mistake. Would love my money back but guessing that won't happen. So far the experience has been offensive and a waist of time.
