Hi product hunt! 👋 thanks @mwseibel for the hunt! @cw858 and I are building Cache. Cache creates and operates convenience stores on DoorDash and UberEats. We use tiny, automated dark stores to pass items to delivery drivers. ---The Problem--- There is a convenience desert in most of the U.S (and many parts of the world). People want items (🍫💊🍨) delivered to their doorstep 24/7. But it’s either completely inaccessible many times of the day, or extremely expensive. We’re big fans of the products like GoPuff and DashMart, but their products only serve large urban areas. The economics don’t really lend themselves to many suburban areas. These facilities can cost up to $1mm+ to build-out, and can have labor expenses of $50k+/mo. It’s really hard to fulfill this segment, because it doesn’t make sense to staff someone in a store overnight only to fulfill $30 worth of NyQuil (or even 10x that). Even though having access to snacks, OTC drugs, or something else in the middle of the night is really important when you need it. ---About Cache--- Caches create digital storefronts on Doordash / Uber Eats. Consumers see these storefronts and order on their app. Drivers come up to our tiny, automated dark stores (Cache Units), and grab all the ordered items. They then deliver everything to the consumer's doorstep. We have two first-party stores live today. One with OTC medicine and snacks in Sausalito, CA. And an ice-cream store in South San Francisco, CA. We're also working to partner with retailers to address times of day and locations they couldn’t before. We hope to cover the majority of the U.S. in the next 5 years and expand categories. who knows... maybe we'll start selling iPhones on-demand out of them one-day or something else crazy. ---About us--- Chris and I started Cache because we’re big believers of on-demand delivery, and we wanted to make it accessible and affordable to everyone. Before Cache, Chris and I both worked at DoorDash. Chris was working on next-gen infrastructure to lower costs of on-demand delivery (e.g. Ghost Kitchens).
