Hi Everyone! 👋 David here, CEO and maker of Between. We experienced the hybrid-remote setup back in Sept 2020, when we were part of the only hybrid Techstars program. The remote members of the cohort rarely spoke during hybrid meetings and often asked for highlights. Speaking with them we discovered that the hybrid setup "shuts you up" as a remote caller. It was like sitting behind a window while everyone else was inside around a table. The cross talk gets lost to you, and you're not properly heard by people in the room That’s why we built Between - Spatial Chat for Hybrid. We’ve mapped out the audio happening in a real physical room and placed it in a virtual call. Remote members can hop around laptops/phones and have different conversations depending on who’s device they’re on. We’ve removed the echo that would come from an all-mics-on setup so people can chat without any issues. Bonus: if you put on headphones, you’ll have a more immersive experience where remote members will sound like they're in the room with you. It’s in the rudimentary stages, but mid 2022 it'll be as immersive as a VR game. This is our MVP, and we have a lot more exciting things planned in the coming months. Such as true location mapping for in-person devices, higher quality audio, a public API, and more.
